HAHN Gasfedern GmbH – company history

The company was founded by Günter Hahn in 1960. Since then, we are valued by our customers for our innovations. Our numerous national and international innovative products emphasise the technological competency of HAHN Gasfedern. They form the basis for our continuous growing success.

Milestones

1960	On 1st October 1960 Günther Hahn founded his company in Esslingen manufacturing precision lathe parts
1966	Günther Hahn receives his first contract for the production of gas springs for the furniture industry
1972	The company moves to the industrial park in Waldstraße in Aichwald
1973	Production of the gas spring series 8-19, 10-23 and 14-28
1974	Serial production of gas springs for renowned companies such as Neoplan, Roto Frank and Deutz
1978	The development of tension springs and locking gas springs
1985	The program is extended to include series 6-15, 20-40 and in the heavy duty sector 25-55 and 30-65
1987	The first worldwide sale of a gas spring with an rod diameter of 4 mm
1988	The first worldwide production of quality “rust-free” gas springs for the Yacht industry.
1999	Certification to DIN ISO 9001 in 2000
2002	Approval for the manufacture of compression equipment according to directive 97/23/EC concerning pressure equipment
2003	Comprehensive development of production
2007	Introduction of the MICRO-series with a tube diameter of 6,8 and 10 mm at the “Interzum” exhibition in Cologne
2008	Series production of tension springs with damping
2009	Biggest world-wide portfolio of gas springs, tension springs and oil dampers in stainless steel AISI 316 (V4a)
2010	Introduction of smallest gas spring Z 04-15 in the world in stainless steel AISI 316 (V4a)
2011	KAYDON corporation becomes the new proprietor of HAHN Gasfedern
2013	SKF acquires Kaydon Corporation HAHN Gasfedern will be part of the SKF group Certification DIN ISO 14001: 2009
2014	Introduction of energy management system in accordance with DIN ISO 50001: 2011
2016	HAHN is an official member of the Stabilus Group from Koblenz, Germany
2018	New building Waldstraße 35
